SUMMARY

2005 was a busy musical year, juggling full-time work, rehearsals/gigs with Holding 1 and a refined creative spree. Re-recorded for full effect, Demonstration provides a healthy dose of experimentation with regards to improvising structured song parts.

Recorded in San Antonio, Texas at Studio 1927 from 2015-2019

Album NOtes

2005 was another one of those years where it felt like my understanding of music must have doubled or tripled. My musical output certainly did. Holding 1 was rehearsing less, playing more live shows and I was afforded more time to experiment and write. I wasn’t going for 20 songs, but the way the record unfolds from section to section makes perfect sense to me. It doesn’t feel like 20 songs in a bad way. It feels like 20 songs I’d like to hear in about an hour every couple of years or so. Or many more times of course.

My approaches were mixed on these tracks. There were some criteria for the creative end. It had to sound like it was going to blow people’s hair back who were sitting close to the stage, were this material be performed live. I really wanted to bring out some old Moog like synth sounds for many of these tracks. I also wanted the music to tell a story from beginning to end. I wanted something that you wouldn’t have to understand the words to understand the song.

I wanted to yell and holler a lot.

I released these songs amongst friends in 2005 as "Experiments in Demonstration." With their proper recording comes a shortened title, but a much larger punch.
